This is from nearly two and a half years ago. My first introduction to Bonni Goldberg. Must say it was love at first write. It's taken me this long to find the book so I can continue. Hopefully there'll be 200 more to come.

I was cleaning up some files on my hard drive and came across this entry I must have begun last spring. I did a bit of quick editing, and decided to post, mostly because I appear to be in the same mood I was in when I began the little reflection.

Intro and exercises [07 Mar 2005|03:15pm]

Hello. I've been lurking on this community for ages, and I've finally set aside time for writing, and I thought doing some exercises might help get my muse back in shape so I could attack one of the three books I'm working on.

I was right :)

But first, my introduction: My name is Kelly and besides being a writer, I'm currently working fulltime for a cellphone company and attending school for Business Management. Writing is my first love, but I also realize that most people don't feed their families on their writing. So, when I write, it's not with the hopes of eventually finding work, but to feed my own muse, who is actually very demanding, and very temperamental :)

Anyway, rambling aside, here are my two un-edited attempts at the exercises. More to come as I tackle the others!

Exercise #8 (Finally) [26 Apr 2004|08:00am]

[ mood | accomplished ]

*knock, knock* Anybody home? Sorry the updates have been infrequent. Beth is having computer troubles (for those of you who don't know) and I'm... well, a slacker. Plus I haven't heard back yet if it's okay with Beth that I go ahead with any of these exercises. Ah, well, I hope it is. Here goes...

Exercise #8Collapse )

Better late than never, right? Reminder that you are all still welcome to do Exercise #7, or any of the other ones, for that matter. Also, we are still accepting any ideas you all might have for new exercises or suggestions for the community. And feel free to pimp the group wherever you deem appropriate. ;)

*waves* Hello! I just joined roomtowrite and am excited about it. :) I have been working on the exercises that have already been posted, and I'll post them below. Well, all but #5, because I'm not sure anyone wants to read a page worth of junk that I write. :) I know it's a long post, but I hope that you read it anyway. I'd love to hear feedback from the other community members.

Introduction and Observation Exercise [31 Mar 2004|08:34pm]

[ mood | optimistic ]

Surprise! Beth has been busy and she needed a co-mod for this community. Naturally I jumped at the chance. *Tries not to cackle evilly at the power*. Ahem. So, without further ado, I present to you

Exercise #7Collapse )

This exercise was inspired by a creative writing exercise an old English teacher of mine had her students do. It was very enjoyable for me and I hope it will be for you all too.

If you have any suggestions for exercises or anything else, we're very open to ideas, you can comment here or e-mail me and I'll pass the ideas on to Beth, my almighty queen. *bows*

Inspired by a conversation I actually had over the phone with my sister. I would kind of like to do the other exercise too so I might have another one coming.

Not ListeningCollapse )

Will be posting again soon. Whether I do the other exercise 6 or not. ;)~Tiffany

Here's what I wrote for exercises #3 and #4. As I wrote them, I realized I had alot of repressed feelings, especially in regards to #4. It felt great to let that all out.

Here's my "I remember" exercise. It's bordering on the 3 year anniversary of my dad's death, so what did I wind up writing about? Sorry, I couldn't help myself. It was just what came out.

I remember...Collapse )

It's liberating to get that out. Any comments, constructive critisism, etc. Are welcome. I can use some feedback. ~T

Exercise #5: Failing [03 Mar 2004|06:45pm]

wildebeth
[ mood | guilty ]

I'm late! I'm late!

Today's exercise is going to be the first one where you can't post your results and the last one directly from the book for a while.

This one is important, and I encourage you all to go for it. If you have done it, please comment here, even if you just say "I did it".

FailingCollapse )

I encourage everybody to go back and read the posts they've missed. Feedback is always good to hear.

Lie [29 Feb 2004|07:40pm]

bluedaisy62
[ mood | contemplative ]

I'm catching up. Slowly but surely. Here's the second exercise "Diving In". Very short. It's tough for me to just write and not edit as I go. Picked "lie" because I liked that one and was happy to see that I was the only one to do this word. Not great, but what are you going to do when you're not supposed to edit it?

LieCollapse )

I'll try to read some of the ones I missed and comment. I'll also try to catch up by the end of this week. Peace out.
